The IAT GmbH office in Carinthia has been an integral part of the mountain railway industry for more than 22 years. During that time, we have laid more than 4 million square metres of geosynthetic membrane for reservoirs and landfills. One of our largest completed projects is the natural reservoir lake at St Moritz, with a volume of 400,000 m³ at an elevation of 2,525 m near the existing natural lake of Lej Alv. This huge reservoir was completed in 2015. For this project, we laid 60,000 m² of synthetic waterproofing membrane at a rate of up to 1,000 m² per day.
Reservoir projects are always carried out in a limited time frame from the beginning of July to the end of October. This tight time window for construction places the highest demands on quality and flexibility and requires ironclad adherence to deadlines from our reservoir team of around 20 certified welders.
